Brow Lamination: What It Is and Whether You Need It
Brow lamination is a perm for your eyebrows. That’s it. That’s the whole thing.
A solution softens the hair’s structure, we brush every hair into the direction we want it to go, a second solution locks it there, and a nourishing treatment finishes it. Your brows stay in that shape for six to eight weeks without you doing anything.
If you’ve been penciling in the same three gaps every morning for years, this is the service that ends that.
What it actually fixes
Hairs that grow the wrong way. The single most common brow problem. Hairs at the inner corner that grow straight down, or a section in the middle that grows sideways. Lamination redirects them upward and holds them.
Gaps. Not by adding hair — by redistributing what you have. Hairs that were lying flat and overlapping get lifted and spread out, so they cover more surface area. Sparse brows look noticeably denser.
Asymmetry. Most people have one brow that sits higher or arches differently. Lamination lets us set both to the same shape.
Unruly, coarse, or curly brows. If your brows have a mind of their own and gel stops working by noon, this is the fix.
What it can’t do
It cannot grow hair. If a section of your brow has no follicles — over-plucked in the 2000s, alopecia, scarring — lamination will improve the appearance around it but it won’t fill a bald patch. Microblading or a brow tint is a better conversation there, and we’ll tell you that instead of taking your money for a service that won’t deliver.
The appointment
45 to 60 minutes. You’re sitting up, awake, and it doesn’t hurt.
- Cleanse and map the shape to your bone structure and eye position
- Lifting solution, brushed and set (about 10 minutes)
- Setting solution to lock the new direction (about 8 minutes)
- Optional tint, if you want more depth or definition
- Optional shaping — wax or tweeze — done after lamination, once the true shape is visible
- Nourishing oil to rehydrate the hair
That order matters. Shaping before lamination means you’re trimming a shape that’s about to change. Plenty of places do it backwards.
Aftercare — the first 24 hours are the whole game
For 24 hours:
- Keep them dry. No water, no steam, no sweating.
- Don’t touch them.
- No makeup on or near the brows.
That’s it. After 24 hours, live normally.
Ongoing:
- Brush them into shape each morning with a spoolie — takes five seconds
- Apply the nourishing oil we send you home with a few times a week. This is not optional if you want them to look good in week six; laminating without conditioning leaves the hair dry and brittle.
How long it lasts
Six to eight weeks. Toward the end, new growth comes in unlaminated and you’ll see the shape soften. That’s the signal to rebook.
Do not laminate more often than every six weeks. Over-processing is real and it damages the hair. If someone offers to redo you at four weeks, decline. We’ll turn you away too, kindly.
Who should skip it
- Anyone with active eczema, psoriasis, or broken skin around the brow
- Recent brow tattooing, microblading, or a chemical peel in the area — wait it out
- Known sensitivity to thioglycolate or keratin treatments
- Pregnancy — many people proceed without issue, but we recommend checking with your doctor first
We patch test on request, always, and we’d rather you ask.
