What Actually Happens at Your Appointment
If you’ve never had lash extensions before, the honest reason people put it off isn’t price. It’s not knowing what they’re walking into — how long, whether it hurts, whether they’ll have to make conversation for three hours with their eyes shut.
So here’s the whole thing, start to finish.
Getting here
We’re at 1019 Avenue P, Suite 703 — seventh floor, elevator on your right as you come in. Suite 703 is signposted.
There’s no storefront window and no lobby full of people, which is deliberate. It’s one room, one client. Nobody is watching you, nobody is waiting for their turn beside you, and there’s no blow dryer running.
Come as close to on time as you can. One-room studio means a late start pushes the next person, and there’s no second chair to absorb it.
The first ten minutes: consultation
We look at your natural lashes — how many you have, how strong they are, how long, which direction they grow. Then at your eye shape, because a style that opens a round eye will close a hooded one.
We’ll ask about:
- Contact lenses, dry eye, recent eye surgery or procedures
- Any previous reaction to lash adhesive
- How much time you spend on your face in the morning, honestly
- What you do — swim, sauna, gym, sleep face-down
Then we map. Show us your reference photos. If a set won’t work on your eye, we’ll say so and show you the nearest version that will, and we’d rather have that conversation now than have you unhappy at the mirror in two hours.
The mapping consultation is included with every service. It’s not an upsell and it’s not skipped when we’re busy.
The next two to three hours
You lie back on a heated bed. Under-eye pads go on, your eyes close, and they stay closed the whole time — that’s not optional, it’s how the adhesive stays away from your eye.
Then it’s quiet, repetitive, precise work: isolate one natural lash, apply one extension, repeat, several hundred times.
Will it hurt? No. You should feel nothing at all. If you feel pulling, pinching, or stinging, say so immediately — it means something needs adjusting and it’s fixable in seconds. Don’t be polite about it.
Can you talk? If you want to. Plenty of clients want to chat the whole time and plenty want silence. Tell us which at the start and we’ll follow your lead. Bring headphones if you’d rather have a podcast. Most people fall asleep. That’s the normal outcome, not the unusual one.
Can you check your phone? No — eyes closed. Set your alarms and send your messages before we start.
Bathroom first. Two hours is two hours.
The last five minutes
We do a separation check: brushing through to confirm no two natural lashes are stuck together. Sticky lashes are the number one cause of long-term damage, and this check is the difference between a set that’s fine and one that’s actually correct.
Then you sit up, look in the mirror, and we go through aftercare — three lines, not a lecture. You go home with your lash shampoo, brush, and gift set.
Before you leave, book the refill. Two to three weeks out. It’s the single thing that keeps you from ever having a gap.
Before you come
- No mascara for 24 hours if possible
- No oil-based eye cream or moisturizer that morning
- Skip the second coffee — eye flutter slows everything down
- Bring two or three reference photos
- Tell us about any sensitivity, even a mild one
New clients: $20 off your first visit.
