How Long Do Lash Extensions Actually Take?

You booked a lash appointment. Now you’re wondering whether you just gave up your entire Saturday.

Here’s the honest answer, with the real numbers, so you can plan your day around your appointment instead of the other way around.

Typical appointment times at DEEPINLASH

ServiceTime to budget
Classic 1D full setabout 90 minutes
Mix 2D–3D full setabout 90 minutes
Volume 4D–5D full setabout 90 minutes
Mega volume 6D+ full setabout 90 minutes
Refill, any tier (every 2–3 weeks)about 60 minutes
Brow lamination45 – 60 minutes
Safe removalabout 20 minutes

A full set takes longer than a refill because every single natural lash gets isolated and worked on individually. There is no shortcut around that part. What can be shortened is everything else: setup, consultation, styling indecision, and the wait for the adhesive to cure.

Why some studios take four hours and we don’t

Three things add time to a lash appointment that have nothing to do with skill:

1. Deciding the style during the appointment. If you walk in unsure between a cat eye and a doll eye, you can burn twenty minutes talking about it while the clock runs. We do a lash mapping consultation at the start of every service so the plan is set before the first extension goes on. It takes five minutes when it’s a routine, and twenty when it isn’t.

2. Over-application on lashes that can’t hold it. Loading a 0.20mm extension onto a fine natural lash means it will fall off early, and you’ll be back in ten days for a rescue appointment. We match the weight to what your natural lash can carry. Slower to explain, faster over your whole year.

3. Cure time. Traditional cyanoacrylate adhesive keeps curing for hours after you leave — which is why so many salons tell you not to shower for 24 hours. Our UV-bonded sets cure in seconds under a controlled light, which removes the waiting rule entirely. Read more about that here →

Fast should never mean rushed

There is a version of “fast” you should walk away from: a full set finished in 45 minutes. That is not efficiency, that’s an artist gluing multiple natural lashes together in clusters. It looks fine for four days, then it pulls, and you lose your own lashes underneath.

Signs your set was done properly:

  • Each extension sits on one natural lash, with a small gap from the lid
  • You feel nothing — no tugging, no weight, no stickiness between lashes
  • You can brush a spoolie straight through without resistance
  • Your artist did a separation check at the end and showed you the result

Signs it wasn’t:

  • Lashes feel stuck together in the morning
  • Anything pinches or stings at the lash line
  • Extensions come out in visible clumps within the first week

How to make your own appointment shorter

  • Come with clean lashes. No mascara, no oil-based moisturizer, no eye cream that morning. Residual product means we spend the first fifteen minutes deep-cleansing instead of lashing.
  • Save two or three reference photos. A picture settles the style conversation in thirty seconds.
  • Book refills every 2–3 weeks. Waiting five weeks turns a 60-minute refill into a near-full set.
  • Use the bathroom first. You’re lying down with your eyes closed for two hours. It matters more than you think.
  • Skip the caffeine right before. Eye flutter makes isolation harder and slows everything down.

What the appointment actually feels like

You lie back on a heated bed. Eyes closed the entire time. Most clients fall asleep — genuinely, most of them. You can bring headphones and a podcast. We work quietly if you’d rather not talk, and we’ll say so upfront rather than making you carry a conversation for two hours.
