The Aftercare Kit We Send Every New Client Home With
Here’s the part most people get wrong: retention isn’t decided in the studio. It’s decided in your bathroom, over the next three weeks.
We can build a technically perfect set. If it never gets cleaned, it will still look patchy by day ten. So every new client leaves with the tools to prevent that, and they’re included — you’re not buying a kit at checkout.
What’s in the gift set
Lash shampoo. A foaming, oil-free cleanser made for extensions. This is the item that matters most and the one almost nobody owns.
A lash brush (spoolie). For thirty seconds of brushing in the morning. Costs nothing, changes everything.
A lipstick. Because you just spent two hours on your face and you should get to leave with the whole thing finished, not just the eyes.
The actual routine — three steps
1. Wash them. Every day.
Not “every few days when you remember.” Daily.
Lash extensions collect exactly what your eyelids collect: oil, dead skin, makeup residue, dust. That buildup sits at the base of the lash and eats the bond. Dirty lashes shed faster than clean ones — the opposite of what most people assume.
How: pump the foam onto a clean fingertip or a soft brush, close your eye, work gently side to side along the lash line, rinse with lukewarm water, pat dry with a lint-free towel. Fifteen seconds per eye. Do it in the shower.
2. Brush them in the morning.
Sleep pushes lashes sideways. A dry spoolie, from mid-length outward, five strokes. Never brush when they’re soaking wet — that’s when the natural lash is at its weakest and you can pull one out.
3. Sleep off your face.
Face-down sleeping is the single most common cause of a set that looks great on the right and flat on the left. If you can’t change how you sleep, a silk pillowcase reduces the damage a bit. Not a fix, but it helps.
What to keep away from your lashes
- Oil-based cleansers, makeup removers, and eye creams. Oil breaks down adhesive. Check the ingredients on your eye cream — a lot of “gentle” ones are oil-first.
- Waterproof mascara. Removing it requires exactly the products that destroy the bond. You shouldn’t need mascara on a well-mapped set anyway.
- Cotton pads and cotton balls. The fibers catch and pull.
- Lash curlers. They crimp and snap extensions at the base.
- Picking and pulling. If one is bothering you, message us. Do not pull it. You will take your natural lash with it and that lash takes three months to grow back.
Heat, steam, and the gym
Steam rooms, saunas, and long very hot showers soften adhesive over time. You don’t have to avoid them, but if you’re in a sauna four times a week, expect to refill closer to every two weeks than every three.
If you have UV-bonded lashes, you can get them wet the same day — no 24-hour waiting period. More on that here →
What’s normal and what isn’t
Normal: losing two to five extensions a day. Your natural lashes shed on their own cycle and take the extension with them. This isn’t a retention failure, it’s biology.
Not normal, message us: redness that lasts, itching at the lash line, extensions that feel stuck together, or any pinching. Those are fixable and we’d rather hear about it on day two than at your next appointment.
When to come back
Every two to three weeks for a refill. At three weeks you’ve typically shed about 40–50% of the set, which is still a refill. Past four weeks, we’re rebuilding, and you’re paying full-set prices.
Book your next visit before you leave. It’s the cheapest way to never have a gap.
Running low?
Refill-size lash shampoo is available at the studio, and we’ll top up your spoolie whenever you’re in. Just ask.
