Why it is a service

Almost all lash damage happens at removal.

A properly weighted extension does not damage the lash it sits on. What does the damage is taking it off badly — and that includes the version you do yourself at eleven at night with your fingers, because one extension has been annoying you for a week.

Cyanoacrylate adhesive is stronger than a lash follicle. Pull the extension and the natural lash comes with it, often before it was ready to shed. Do that across a whole set and you get what people describe as "extensions ruined my lashes" — a sparse, short, uneven line that takes two to three months to grow back.

Never do this Pulling or picking Not with fingers, not with tweezers, not "just the one that's poking me". Each one takes a natural lash and a growth cycle with it.
Also never Steam, oil and hope Coconut oil and hot showers soften the bond enough to loosen extensions unevenly, which means you then pull the half-attached ones. It is the same damage with extra steps.
What we do Dissolve the bond A gel or cream remover sits on the bond for a few minutes under eye patches, and the extensions release on their own. The natural lash is untouched because nothing is under tension.
After Cleanse and condition The lash line is cleaned of remover and adhesive residue, then conditioned. If your lashes need a break, we say so, and when to come back.

Repair

If someone else's set went wrong.

This is a common appointment and it is not an awkward one. You do not need to explain, apologise or name the salon. Text a clear photo of your lashes in daylight, no makeup, and we will tell you which of these it is before you commit to anything.

What's wrongWhat it meansWhat we do
StickiesTwo or more natural lashes bonded together, so one cannot shed without pulling the other.Full removal. This is the one case where we will not refill over the top — leaving them in causes real damage.
Too heavyExtensions thicker or longer than the natural lash can carry. Lashes look stressed, droop, or shed early.Removal, then either a break or a lighter set mapped to what your lashes can actually hold.
Wrong shapeLength and curl that fight your eye shape — a doll-eye map on a downturned eye, or a curl that brushes a hooded lid.Removal and a new set with mapping done first, which is a ten-minute conversation that fixes it.
Patchy after a weekUsually a retention problem — adhesive, humidity, or oil at the lash line — not a density problem. We look at what is still attached. Sometimes a refill is enough; often it is a new set with the aftercare conversation.
Irritation or rednessCould be adhesive sensitivity, could be a tape or patch reaction, could be a lash touching the lid.Removal the same day if you want it off. If you have reacted before, we patch test before any new set.

If your eye is painful, swollen or weeping, see a doctor first, not a lash studio. We can remove a set that is bothering you, but we are not medical and we will not pretend otherwise. Allergic reactions to lash adhesive are real — no adhesive is hypoallergenic, including the LED-cured one.

Taking a break

What your lashes look like afterwards.

Right after removal, your own lashes will look shorter and sparser than you remember. That is almost always comparison, not damage — you have spent weeks looking at extensions.

  • Week 1. They look bare. Nothing is wrong. Mascara is fine from day one.
  • Weeks 2–6. Normal growth cycle. If lashes were pulled rather than dissolved, this is when the gaps show.
  • Weeks 8–12. A properly removed lash line is back to baseline. A pulled one takes closer to three months.
  • A conditioning serum helps keep the lash flexible. It does not regrow follicles, and anything claiming it does is selling you something.

You can go straight into a new set the same day if your lashes are healthy. If they are not, we will say so and tell you when to come back — usually four to six weeks.

Questions

What people ask about removal.

How much does lash extension removal cost in Brooklyn?

$25 at DEEPINLASH, and it takes about 20 minutes. It is free when you book a new set the same visit — in that case you pay for the set only. We remove work applied anywhere, not just our own.

Can I remove lash extensions myself at home?

You can, and it is the main cause of the damage people blame extensions for. Lash adhesive is stronger than a lash follicle, so pulling an extension takes the natural lash with it, usually before it was ready to shed. Oil and steam loosen the bond unevenly, which leaves you pulling the half-attached ones. A 20-minute, $25 appointment avoids two to three months of regrowth.

Does lash extension removal hurt?

No. You lie down with eye patches on, the remover sits on the bond for a few minutes, and the extensions release on their own. Nothing is under tension at any point. Some people feel a cool or slightly tingling sensation from the remover; if it stings, it comes off immediately.

Will you remove lash extensions applied at another salon?

Yes, and it is a large part of this appointment. You do not need to explain or name the salon. Text a clear daylight photo beforehand and we will tell you whether it needs full removal, whether a refill can save it, and what the set underneath looks like.

What are lash stickies and why can't they be refilled over?

A stickie is two or more natural lashes bonded together by adhesive or by an extension placed across both. Because lashes shed on individual cycles, one lash trying to shed pulls on the other and takes it out early. Refilling over stickies leaves the problem in place, so we remove the set instead. This is the one case where we will not refill someone else's work.

Can I get a new lash set the same day as removal?

Usually yes, and that is the most common booking — removal is free when you do. If your natural lashes are visibly stressed from heavy or badly removed previous work, we will recommend waiting four to six weeks and tell you why rather than apply a set over a damaged line.

How long do natural lashes take to recover after extensions?

If the set was dissolved off properly, nothing needs to recover — the lash line is back to its own baseline immediately, it just looks bare by comparison. If extensions were pulled, expect eight to twelve weeks for a full growth cycle to replace what was lost.

One extension is poking my eye — what should I do?

Brush it with the spoolie first; a twisted extension often just needs to be turned back into line. If that does not fix it, text us and come in — it takes two minutes to remove or replace one misplaced lash, and we do not charge for it. What you must not do is pull it. Lash adhesive is stronger than a lash follicle, so pulling takes your natural lash with it, and the irritation is not worth a lost growth cycle.

How do I grow my lashes back after extensions?

If the set was dissolved off properly, there is nothing to grow back — your lash line is at its own baseline and simply looks bare by comparison after weeks of extensions. If lashes were pulled out, a full growth cycle of eight to twelve weeks replaces what was lost. Either way: stop pulling or rubbing, clean the lash line daily, and a conditioning serum keeps the hair flexible while it grows. No product regrows a follicle that is gone, whatever the packaging claims.

What happens if I just stop getting lash extensions?

They shed off gradually with your own lashes over about six to eight weeks, a few at a time, and then you are back to your natural lash line. Nothing dramatic happens and there is no withdrawal. The only thing worth doing is booking a removal rather than letting the last stragglers annoy you into pulling them — $25, twenty minutes, and it is free if you ever come back for a new set the same visit.
